Andrea Powell-Wallace, St. Ann Parish Council Employee of the Year for 2014.

Powell-Wallace emerged on top ahead of Damarlie Palmer, Ingrid Palmer and Yvovnne Ferguson, all of whom were staff-of-the-quarter winners during the year.

Powell-Wallace, a favourite of the dozens of staff members at the function, won a weekend for two at Couples Sans Souci hotel, a Digicel BlackBerry cell phone, a plaque, among other prizes.

Second place winner, Damarlie Palmer collected a Digicel DL750 cell phone and a day-pass to Royal DeCameron hotel in Salem, Runaway Bay.

Powell-Wallace, who has been employed at the Council since 2002, said she felt elated at being the first to receive such a recognition from the St Ann Parish Council.

She joined the workforce at the Council in the position of administrative assistant and after four years moved to the accounting department.

There were also special prizes for Hilary DaCosta for her punctuality, not being late in over 10 years, and to Orande Pink for his effort at implementing the Application Management and Data Analysis (AMANDA) system at the council.

The event was enhanced by an inspiring presentation from guest speaker Mrs Suzette Barnes-Wilson, principal at Chester primary school, who encouraged the staff to be professional in everything they do.

Secretary manager at the parish council, Alfred Graham, said he hopes the award ceremony would serve as motivation for other workers.
